in whitstable, Kent
A doula is someone who mothers the mother. Greek for "she who serves", a doula supports and nurtures an expecting woman on her journey to becoming a mother, helping gently guiding her, her partner and baby through the powerful transitions of pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum recovery offering informational, emotional and physical support.
Sarah is an internationally recognised birth doula and massage therapist who accompanies women and their families as they take their extraordinary steps into parenthood.
Sarah was mentored throughout her formal maternity and massage training under the highly acclaimed Christine Sutherland. Christine is an extraordinary woman with over 40 years' massage and maternity support experience and author of several books including Birthing in Good Hands. She mentored Sarah intensively over the course of her three years in Canada. During this mentorship Sarah assisted Christine in attending births, teaching massage both locally in Nelson BC and internationally, traveling to remote communities in Guatemala and reaching as far as Vietnam via the online classroom.
In November 2017 she assisted her own sister in the natural delivery of her second baby, a very special occasion to mark her return to England. Expanding her massage repertoire, she has gone on to further her skills by qualifying with JING Advanced Massage Training in holistic deep tissue massage therapy. This style of fusion massage is also available as a stand-alone service that Sarah offers alongside maternity massage and birth doula support.
Now living in Whitstable in the South East of England, Sarah offers treatments from the HolistiCentre in Barham, as well as offering mobile services in Kent, London and Surrey.
